Day refers to a book “History Of Freemasonry And Concordant Orders” which have a “Dermott arch” with the same two men on their pillars. I haven’t been able to find the reference, but if this is true and these images are -for example- from an early Ahiman Rezon, this would mean another “Antient” connection.
The globe seems to be “terrestrial”.

In Mackey’s Manual Of The Lodge there is an image with three pillars each with a person on top. Below the pillars it says “W”, “S” and “B”. The person on the pillar “B” has an axe in his hand and looks to the left quite like here.
